Message from our Founder, Candace Houston

Can you believe we are entering the holiday season already? It seems like we were just saying “Happy New Year” not long ago. I am not complaining at all as this is my FAVORITE time of year! There is something about the fall breeze, and although the days may be cool, there is warmth in the changing colors of the leaves. It’s the various smells of the season that make me smile. Cranberry, cinnamon, and spice. The smell of turkey and dressing that you know will be filling the house as Thanksgiving Dinner is being prepared. And then there are the sounds of Christmas. The music that sounds so good while sitting on the patio drinking your favorite beverage, or while shopping for those favorite gifts. One of my favorite things about the season is being able to throw on black tights and make them look really fly with a cute, oversized sweater and warm fuzzy ankle boots, topping the fit off with a really cute skull cap and scarf! All of these things and more are what I love about the holiday season. But more than anything, I love that it gives us an opportunity to reset and reflect on the love of Jesus Christ, and the importance of family and friends. This year has been a transitional year for me. I have been able to let go of many things, and people, and opened myself up for God to manifest His glory in me. Things that were sitting dormant, now have life.
My heart is full, and I am mighty grateful for this “shift” in my journey, “being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:” I hope you all will stick around and see what

God has in store! On behalf of the Nspire U! Family, we wish you all a happy, healthy, and peaceful Holiday Season!

Dre Day joins Nspire U On Air!

Dre Day is a lover of all things music and entertainment. He calls himself the “entertainer's entertainer” because of his down-to-earth and funny personality. He wanted to be an athlete and never looked at entertainment as a way out but had the skills to do that and more.
Dre Day was introduced to music and entertainment in 2009. Around 2010 he started a solo music career which led to some bad management and being misled when it came to the music business. In 2016 he started AD Consulting & Management, LLC, with a goal of making

sure no entertainers were used for their talents in the way he was. Dre Day is now deep in the entertainment industry. He launched the platform “Song4Song Music” as an outlet for upcoming entertainers to network and learn how to navigate the music industry. He is an event host going by the name “DreMakePlays.”

Dre Day has now taken his talents to radio with his show "Local Music Sessions.” Dre plays local and upcoming music and interviews the artists, producers, and anyone in between, who impacts how music is created and sold.
You can catch Dre Day every Saturday night from 9 p.m. to Midnight on Nspire U On Air, The New Beat of the Bay!

What’s New in Media?

Behind the scenes with

Inetta Da Moodsetta!

“I got into radio in 1992. I was working in the research department and the station asked everyone to record a Christmas greeting for our listeners. They liked my voice, trained me for 2 hours and the rest is history! I would run the board for Nick @ Nite, and we decided that I needed a fly name. We did a contest and the winner came up with the name “Inetta Da Moodsetta” because I talked on air about turning off the lights in the studio and burning candles and incense. Of course, that didn’t last long as wax was everywhere and management shut that down, LOL!
I love neo-soul, funk, and gospel music. Music that makes you feel good, that makes you happy. If I had to choose a favorite artist, it would be Erykah Badu because of her “I don’t care what anyone may think of me” vibe, and Prince. My favorite television shows are Good Times and Sanford and Son. My favorite food is seafood. In my “me” time, I like to crochet and be around water. Swimming is great therapy for me. I am “nspired” by my 9 grandkids. They keep me going and make me a better person. Also, the entire Nspire U! Organization is an inspiration to me, being run by strong black women, showing the community how it’s done!” You can catch Inetta Monday – Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Midday Soiree on Nspire U! On Air. Download the free app.

Happy Holidays!!!

Before we get out of here, we want to share some tips with you to make the holidays a bit more than the norm. Let’s start with Thanksgiving. Now, there is no law that says turkey HAS to be on the menu. How many of you have ever seen a turkey, small enough to feed a family of 2 or 3? And how many times can you really eat leftover turkey without getting in your feelings? Well here are some ideas that will add a little kick to Thanksgiving Dinner and open your imagination up to what “outside of the normal” sides you can pair them with.
