The 2024 Sisters For Life Health and Wellness Expo was a fantastic success, bringing together a dynamic and diverse group of women committed to their health and well-being. The event’s comprehensive focus on women’s physical, mental, and emotional health through workshops, expert panels, and entertainment speaks volumes about the commitment to creating an empowering space. By addressing not only fitness and nutrition but also financial wellness, relationship dynamics, and career development, our goal is helping women thrive in all aspects of their lives. We are excited about the growth of the expo and look forward to more in 2025!

Jennifer R. Smith- CPT, CNC
NASM Certified Personal Trainer and Nutrition Coach
"Pick Your Hard!"
The transformative journey from obesity to being physically fit has fueled the passion for all things health and wellness for Jennifer Smith. It's her excitement and genuine concern for her clients’ health that make her an invaluable trainer and nutrition coach.
After becoming a Certified Personal Trainer and Nutrition Coach from the highly regarded National Academy of Sports Medicine in 2021, Jennifer began hosting bootcamps in her community with a mission to empower others to identify and overcome the barriers that have prohibited them from achieving their fitness goals. She understands the struggle of being overweight, being uncomfortable in your own skin, and the pain endured from discrimination and bullying experienced as an overweight individual in this society.
Jennifer can share the many struggles, pain, and wins from both sides of her fitness journey and makes it very clear to all that neither side is easy. She is aware that every day there is a person who begins their fitness journey and every day there is a person who quits their fitness journey due to a ‘hard’ they have experienced. She stresses that every choice in life has its own ‘hard’ and it's up to us to decide which ‘hard’ we are willing to bear.
Jennifer will share the knowledge and wisdom she has obtained through her journey, which has helped her improve her health and transform her life. Through her journey, she not only found her purpose, but she also found her ministry. Her objective is to empower other women to overcome the obstacles in life that have prohibited them from being the healthiest versions of themselves.

Dr. Kiwana Brooks, DNP, PMHNP-BC, MSN-Ed.
"Triumphant Over Trauma"
Dr. Kiwana Brooks is a woman of faith, strength, and purpose. She serves as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and has also worked as a nurse educator and healthcare administrator, using her gifts to uplift and care for others in her community. In May 2024, she earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Mobile—a powerful reminder that God’s grace can carry us through anything.
Kiwana’s journey has not been easy, but it has been guided by faith every step of the way. She was raised in poverty and endured sexual, emotional, and physical abuse. She lost her mother at just 7 years old, years before becoming a mother herself at only 14. Later in life, just as she and her father began to build a close relationship, she experienced the pain of losing him, too. Through it all, Kiwana leaned on God’s strength and kept pressing forward, raising her children as a single mother while pursuing her education and walking in her calling.
In August 2024, Kiwana was diagnosed with breast cancer. Since then, she has undergone chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation, and is currently receiving immunotherapy with encouraging progress. Remarkably, just two years before her own diagnosis, she stood by her daughter’s side as she fought and overcame Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Her daughter is now cancer-free and thriving, and Kiwana is continuing her own journey with that same spirit of faith, surrounded by the love and support of family and friends.
Dr. Brooks shares her testimony to remind others that even when life is hard, God is still good. She speaks from a place of lived experience, offering hope to women and young girls who may be facing their own trials.
Her message is simple, yet powerful:
“Your past does not define your future. With faith, determination, and God’s grace, you can overcome anything.”
